Sound environement

It is not just concert halls that need proper acoustics.
Ruukki® Sound Environment solution is embedded in building envelope
Good acoustics are essential for wellbeing and work efficiency. When you ignore acoustics in the development phase, you need to start fixing new buildings because they sound wrong. Ruukki® Sound Environment is featuring a range of profiled load bearing roofing sheets and cladding solutions especially for sports arenas, industrial halls, schools and commercial buildings. It cuts out background noise, and reduces echoes and reverberations. And we can now deliver sound absorption up to class A, αw 1,00. This is basically as good as it gets.
"Ruukki Sound Environment solution has garnered a lot of praise from the players and other visitors. It's pleasant to be here, and the sounds from the game don't bother you. It's great that we now have such a well-functioning sports arena here in Seinäjoki, Finland."
- Tero Mäntylä, Regional Manager, Padel Club Finland

What does it do and how does it work?
A good sound environment plays a crucial role in making a space functional, comfortable, and productive for its occupants. With the Ruukki® Sound Environment, you can design acoustic environments that can enhance people’s wellbeing almost in any building. Acoustically correct spaces improve work efficiency and work safety. Stress levels get lower, productivity gets higher.
Our products make use of strategic perforations combined with sound absorptive materials like mineral wool, acoustic infill, and acoustic layers. Together they absorb sound reflections, reduce unnecessary spread of noise, and reduce noise level. You may not be able to control the sources of noise, but using both sound insulation and sound absorption in the building envelope, can improve the acoustics of a space to suit its purpose.
How does Ruukki® Sound Environment save money?
Did you know that nearly 40% of brand new buildings need repair straight away because they sound wrong? Ruukki® Sound Environment is ready, embedded in a building envelope - that reduces the need to apply additional absorptive layers especially on the interior surface of roofs . The lightweight, economical, and easy-to-install modular solutions will ensure your space is future-proof to adapt to different sound needs, while offering the benefits of faster, more convenient, and more cost-efficient installation.
What you get with Ruukki load bearing acoustic roofs?
- Sound absorptive surfaces integrated into load bearing roof structure
- Sound absorption that can be adjusted easily within roof layout – selection from reflective surface to sound absorptive surface (sound absorption class D) including high or extreme sound absorption (classes B and A)
- Acoustic infill material in the grooves of the profiled sheet that can easily be added in the process of roof construction
- Solution that takes advantage and reveals products that are already in place — layout is more cost-efficient than installing absorptive materials on the interior surface of the roof from below
What you get with Ruukki acoustic claddings and ceilings?
- Super elegant architectural image with perforated design profiles to create a pleasant indoor environment
- Wall solutions that remove flutter echo between vertical surfaces. Solution completes the acoustic roof solution, creating an excellent sound environment
- Overall good sound absorption in envelope increases also the sound level difference between outdoors and indoors

Product portfolio
Using our acoustic load bearing sheets and acoustic claddings you will have full control of acoustic conditions indoors, achieving a productive environment for intended tasks. It is not possible to get rid of all noise sources from the environment, but you can effectively reduce the effects like noise levels, spread of noise, reducing accumulated background noise and therefore suppress many harms and inefficencies the noise produces.
