WinWind Wind Turbine Factory

In the construction of the wind turbine factory, a total of almost 6,000 m² of various types of Ruukki panels were used, each type serving a specific section of the building. Ruukki's all-inclusive delivery also comprised fixing materials, battens and sealing strips.

Durability as an imperative requirement

The location of the wind turbine factory in close proximity to the Port of Hamina places particularly high requirements on the weather durability of the panels. The panels are continuously exposed to hard winds and marine weather.

Staying on schedule with skillful service

In their task, Ruukki's designers had to follow an intense schedule, which is why structural design work partly coincided with construction work. Because of schedule pressure, it also became vital to ensure the timeliness of construction site deliveries. Even the installation proved challenging. Installation workers had to possess solid know-how and experience in order to mount the tall and complex building without compromising safety or quality.

From combined know-how to flow of operations

In the construction of the wind turbine factory, a total of almost 6,000 m² of various types of Ruukki panels were used, each type serving a specific section of the building. Ruukki's all-inclusive delivery also comprised fixing materials, battens and sealing strips.

By inviting Ruukki to join the project early in the design phase, the customer ensured staying on schedule. Ruukki's panel design, together with the installation order agreed upon with the customer, enabled the timely manufacture of the elements, as well as delivery to the construction site according to a set order. Additional transportations were thus avoided, and the panels did not require warehousing at the production facility or on site during construction.

Quality, reliable schedules and expert service

"Panels provide the fastest and most economical way to build wall structures for industrial halls. By distributing the responsibilities rationally between the operators, we secured high-quality products with punctual deliveries to the construction site, as well as expert service at a sensible price," says Vesa Lappalainen, site engineer for Lemminkäinen Talo Oy Kaakkois-Suomi. "Our business relationship with Ruukki goes back a long way. We work with familiar faces who we can freely consult on any issues related to the project and whose help we can trust."
