In accordance with the completed plans, the frame structure was made using steel hollow sections. The wall was made from 160mm thick -non-combustible- sandwich panel filled with mineral wool core. A two-way profile structure was installed on this (vertical omega, then horizontal ‘Z’ profile), which ensures the fastening of the external perforated corrugated sheet. These individual profiles (5-5 cm deep) also push the surface of the cladding out to the line of the rainwater drain, making the downpipe accessible but still fits to the facade cladding. The appropriate perforation was determined based on a comparison of real samples from the 10-15-30-40% options available in the manufacturer’s portfolio. The selected 30% perforated profile was fixed with color-painted stainless steel self-drilling screws.
The perforated outer shell, -in accordance with the designer's intention-, gives different and lighter appearance to the new additional block comparising with the existing cladding. The visibility of secondary purlins were similarly conscious, as they give the tower an additional pattern.
The pleasing end result also shows how important - even for such a seemingly simple task - precise design preparation and careful execution are.
