Ruukki is to launch a new firewall solution to provide safety and prevent the spread of fire. The firewall solution is designed to be lightweight and quick to install, and therefore a cost-effective solution compared to the conventional rather heavy construction practices currently on the market.
Ruukki® Firewall has a single-layer panel structure with reinforced joint structures and is suitable for use in all frame structures materials, like steel, concrete or wood. Two patents are pending for Ruukki’s Firewall solution.
Ruukki’s Firewall solution, together with the building's frame structure, create a wall that meets fire regulations and is also impact-resistant. Ruukki’s Firewall solution is applicable both to exterior walls and fire-partitions dividing a building inside.
Ruukki® Firewall is designed mainly for buildings where strong fire-partitioning is required, when buildings are located very closely to each other, and for buildings with a high fire load, e.g. stocks of combustible materials - such as industrial, manufacturing and logistics buildings.
Ruukki® Firewall panels are available in two panel thicknesses: 200 mm and 230 mm. They meet ratings EI-M 90 up to a 7.5 m span and EI-M 120 up to a 6 m span. Requirements for the use of EI-M rated firewalls are typically based on national building regulations and requirements may vary between countries.
Firewalls provide safety and prevent the spread of fire to other parts of a building, such as escape routes, or to adjacent buildings. In the event of fire, a firewall provides safety to people and buildings.
