Ruukki and SSAB donate roofing products for reconstruction in Ukraine

SSAB and its subsidiary Ruukki Construction donate Ruukki’s roofing products to the charity OperationAid for the reconstruction of houses in Ukraine. Manufactured at Ruukki's Kopyliv plant in Ukraine, the roof profiles, flashings and fasteners donated can be used to rebuild the complete roofs of a total of up to 85 houses or make smaller repairs to hundreds of houses.

OperationAid is a charity that helps Ukraine. The organization focuses on identifying the most urgent needs, raising and procuring funds, and delivering humanitarian aid and medical equipment to Ukraine.

"Ruukki has 72 employees in Ukraine and since the beginning of the war we have assisted those caught up the war, for example by offering financial support and help to reorganize their lives. The safety of our personnel is the most important thing to us, and since May our roofing plant in Kopyliv has been operating some days a week, depending on the demand situation and availability of electricity," ,” says Jouni Metsämäki, SVP Roofing at Ruukki.

The donated roofing products are manufactured from SSAB steel at Ruukki's Kopyliv factory.
