Building Envelope news

First facade with Ruukki® Primo system in Poland

Nowadays, when courier services are growing rapidly and competition is getting tougher, it is even more important for logistics companies to have functional, spatial and user-friendly premises. And a local transportation company from Leszno, in central Poland, has just such premises – a new building consists of a warehouse and an office part. The façade of the office part is cladded with Ruukki® Primo panels and is the first building in Poland to have our premium Ruukki® Primo system on the walls.

The building is owned by a transportation company which cooperates with InPost, one of the leading courier services providers in Poland, and the first company that launched a package locker solution. Now they have more than 8,000 such lockers across Poland and can offer safer, cheaper, more convenient and environment-friendly collection of packages. InPost works with local logistics companies who provide services for this countrywide enterprise.

A storage and service point in Leszno is one such company. The new premises were built in 2019-2020. Ruukki’s first deliveries involved a warehouse part and included wall sandwich panels SP2B E-PIR and roof sandwich panels SP2C E-PIR, together with flashings, a rainwater system, sealings and joints. In other words, the light envelope was built using a total delivery from Ruukki.

Once this part of the project was completed, the question of the office part arose. Ruukki started discussions with the investor and designers at the turn of 2019/2020, which was just when Ruukki launched its new Ruukki® Primo facade cladding system for the premium segment.

The investor found the exceptionally large, flat panels with regulated joint width, enabling to design exclusive façades to be an interesting and attractive solution.

„When we started to talk, an initial concept for the office part was already developed, including certain products. At the time, we were launching our Ruukki® Primo system and I was able to convince the investor to go for it. I think there were a few factors that also helped us – our experience in cladding products, their quality and also novelty value as Primo is an attractive newcomer to our offering addressed to the premium segment,” says Rafał Bejster, Area Sales Manager, Ruukki Polska.

Our customer eventually chose Primo Skyline 150 for the entire office building adjacent to the warehouse. Ruukki’s delivery included standard and corner panels and all the required accessories. The products were delivered in April 2020 and installed in summer 2020.

“I’m quite sure that also the technical support and customer service Ruukki provided at the warehouse construction stage contributed to the investor’s final decision. We proved to be a reliable partner and this definitely made further cooperation easier. The project started during a very difficult period, literally just a few days before a lockdown in spring and we were concerned there would be problems with raw material deliveries. But everything worked out well,” adds Rafał Bejster.

The company providing services for InPost is located in an industrial part of Leszno, next to other warehouses and production halls. Although it is not as big a building as many others around, its eye-catching architectural look makes it stand out. The dark-colored Primo panels form a shiny, smooth surface which nicely matches the glass and wood also used on the façade.

“The investor is pleased with the effect and he is happy to hear positive feedback from his own customers and business partners. On the other hand, we were able to try out our new product in practice, find out how easy it is to install, how it looks on the ready façade and we can guarantee its high quality in all good conscience,” is how Rafał Bejster sums up this project.
