Right coating, longer service life – Ruukki’s updated guide steers toward durable product choices

Ruukki has released an updated version of the Selection recommendation guide for color-coated thin sheet steel products used in construction. This guide is intended for customers, designers, and architects to increase awareness of Ruukki's color-coated building products and to support the selection of the most suitable coating.

When choosing a coating, it is recommended to consider both the application and the surrounding environmental conditions, as these significantly impact the performance and durability of color-coated steel. Different coatings have varying technical and service life properties. By selecting the right coating, durability can be ensured in the intended environment – there is a suitable option for nearly every construction application.

The updated guide also includes information on:

  • carbon-neutral construction and sustainability considerations,
  • building service life and environmental conditions,
  • the technical structure of color-coated steel,
  • steel grades and coating types used in Ruukki products
  • warranty periods granted for roofing and facade products
  • coating recommendations for different environmental conditions.
