Poznań Główny railway station

Construction of the new railway sta,tion Poznań Główny, Poland, was a first part of the complex project to create an integrated communication centre consisting of a bus station, a fast city tram station, one of the biggest railroad junctions in Poland and a large shopping and entertainment center.

The railway station is built with prefabricated reinforced concrete. A facade and roof are composed of a steel structure covered with glass and metal elements. The assembly of this unique roof structure weighing almost 300 tonnes had to be made with extreme precision – the workers suspended on special ropes were responsible for the installation of 1,600 glass and composite components to the steel frame.

Ruukki delivered sandwich panels SP2D160W with an interesting profile R250 and RAL 1015 color. The panels were installed on selected walls of the new building. In addition to the fulfillment of fire protection and thermal insulation requirements, Ruukki was in charge of developing details related to the longitudinal connection of sandwich panels on the facade with their vertical orientation in three different planes.
