The first low-emission Ruukki® LowCarbon roof arrives in Latvia

In July 2025, the first Ruukki Classic® LowCarbon roofing material in the Baltics was delivered to Latvia. Manufactured at Ruukki’s factory in Pärnu, Estonia, the roof was installed on a small garden house. This low-emission solution supports more environmentally friendly construction – even in small-scale projects.

By delivering the Ruukki Classic® LowCarbon roof to Latvia, Ruukki is taking a concrete step toward a more sustainable future in construction in both the Latvian and wider Baltic markets. "This is a great example of how even a small building project can be meaningful and promote more environmentally-sound construction," says Gunārs Grāvītis, Sales Manager, Roofing at Ruukki in Latvia.

Ruukki Classic LowCarbon is an innovative roofing solution made from low-carbon steel. It reduces CO₂ footprint by up to 60% compared to standard roofing products. The reduction is achieved by combining Ruukki’s technically advanced manufacturing process with SSAB Zero™ recycled-based steel, which Is produced using fossil-free energy and coated with GreenCoat® color coating with rapeseed oil. The innovative roofing profile retains all the familiar qualities of the Ruukki Classic® steel roof – outstanding durability, elegant design, and easy installation.

The first LowCarbon roof in the Baltics is just the beginning. The next delivery is planned for Valga, Estonia, where a commercial building renovation is underway The project includes a Ruukki Classic® LowCarbon roof, chosen to support the design and material circularity principles adopted by the architects.
