Plannja, a roof product manufacturer that is part of Ruukki Construction, is investing around SEK 80 million to develop its production plant in Järnforsen in the Småland district of Sweden to boost its business and competitiveness. Ruukki Construction is a subsidiary of SSAB.
The Järnforsen development program and related investments will create a foundation for profitable growth and reinforce Plannja’s status as a leading supplier of roofing products on the Scandinavian market. The investment will support the growth targets of Ruukki Construction’s roofing business and allow the company to offer more comprehensive roofing product solutions in Sweden and Norway. The roofing product range consists of roof profiles, rainwater systems, roof safety products, flashings, accessories and tinsmith products. The development program will also improve customer service, which translates into a more extensive and competitive product range and faster deliveries.
The efficiency and competitiveness of the Järnfors plant will be improved by adding eleven new production lines: seven profiling lines, three lines to manufacture rainwater system components and a new coating line. In addition to the new lines, automation at the plant will be increased and the production process will be made more effective by, for instance, focusing the manufacture of roof profile and rainwater system components into a single area. The development program will also have a major positive impact on safety. Modern, automated production lines are safer and improved internal logistics will reduce the need for on-site transport.

The development program was launched in spring 2020 and will be concluded by mid-2022
