Ruukki at the 2025 Czech Architecture Award gala

This year’s Czech Architecture Award brought together nearly 300 entries, offering an impressive view into the quality and diversity of contemporary Czech architecture. The finalists and winners demonstrated what can be achieved when strong ideas, craftsmanship and durable materials come together.

The gala evening in Prague was warm, festive and full of appreciation for architects who shape Czech cities and landscapes.

Celebrating architecture with COR-TEN® steel

As a long-term partner to architects, Ruukki contributed to this year’s event in several meaningful ways.

We produced commemorative plaques for nominated and awarded buildings, made from Ruukki’s COR-TEN® steel. The material develops a natural patina over time, making each plaque a symbol of architecture that stands the test of time.

Two recognized projects also featured COR-TEN® steel from Ruukki:

• Façade of a café in Brno – COR-TEN® added a strong visual identity.
• Extension of the Vodojemy Brno building – the material blends naturally into the surroundings and ages with dignity.

Seeing our materials included in top architectural works is a strong sign of trust from the architecture community.

Honest architecture as sustainability

The jury highlighted projects that focus on genuine, thoughtful design rather than superficial “eco” claims. This perspective aligns closely with our own: long-lasting architecture is inherently sustainable, and durable materials are central to that longevity.

A shared commitment to quality

“We are happy to be part of a competition that supports quality architecture. Ruukki has long partnered with architects, and we are pleased when our materials appear on buildings designed to last for generations,” said Martin Valeš.

The gala again reminded us that Ruukki is more than a material supplier: we are a partner to professionals who define the future built environment.

Congratulations to all finalists and winners — and thank you to our colleagues who represented Ruukki at the event.
