Ruukki Construction (later referred to as Ruukki) has now been serving customers in Czechia for 20 years. Ruukki’s business started by serving roof builders in 1996 and the following year expanded to serve construction companies in their projects. Today, Ruukki’s entire product and service portfolio is available in Czechia.
Ruukki and its customers celebrated the company’s 20th anniversary in Prague on 22 September. The gala evening was held in the Adria restaurant, where about 70 guests and Ruukki employees celebrated the evening. Jarmo Tonteri, head of Ruukki Construction, opened the celebration and reminded everyone that Czechia is a brilliant place for Ruukki to be because both respect new ways of construction, innovations and aesthetical values.
Helena Tuuri, Finland’s ambassador to Czechia, honoured the event and said that it was good Ruukki was present in Czechia and that business between the Czechs and Finns is natural and straightforward. The Nordic Chamber of Commerce was also present, bringing a Nordic dimension to the event. Ruukki has a firm foothold also in Sweden and Norway. The Nordic Chamber of Commerce is an organisation that supports Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic companies to set up in the Czech market.
Ruukki business area director Jan Samec brought greetings on behalf of the local Ruukki Construction and wished everyone a nice evening.
After the end of the evening’s formalities, it was time for the tastiest part of the event in the form of a cooking demonstration and wine tasting.
The weather also favoured the event and most of the guests spent the evening on the terrace outside.
Judging by the atmosphere at the event, Ruukki will be in Czechia for years to come.

Ruukki Construction (Ruukki) originated in a company known as Rautaruukki, which was established in 1960 to supply steel needed by heavy industry in Finland. Ruukki Construction was set up as a division within Rautaruukki for the construction business in 2005. In addition to manufacturing building products, we offer services such as design and installation for the construction industry.
Today, Ruukki is a subsidiary of SSAB and employs around 3,000 people in 4 business units and 15 production plants across 16 countries.
