SSAB and Ruukki’s roofing continues to help Ukrainian families return home in Mykolaiv

As the war in Ukraine continues to cause immense destruction, reconstruction efforts remain extremely important. To support those in need, SSAB and Ruukki Construction continue their commitment to donating roofing materials to help rebuild homes. These materials have now been installed in several apartment buildings in the Mykolaiv region.

The donation, made in partnership with the non-governmental organization OperationAid, has helped repair war-damaged residential buildings, providing much-needed shelter for families affected by the conflict.

This year 3,000 square meters of roofing materials, along with essential flashings and screws, were donated and have already been installed on apartment buildings in Mykolaiv. Manufactured from SSAB’s color-coated steel, the products were produced at Ruukki’s plant near Kyiv.

“Ensuring that people can return to safe and secure homes is critical. We are proud to contribute to this effort by providing durable, high-quality steel roofs that will protect families for years to come,” said Yuriy Obukh, Business Director of Ruukki Ukraine.

“It is important to show Ukrainians our support. For the third year in a row, SSAB and Ruukki have supported Ukraine’s reconstruction by supplying roofing products. The work of our Ukrainian employees is admirable, says Christina Friborg, head of Sustainability at SSAB.

Despite the ongoing war, Ruukki’s local production remains operational, continuing to manufacture and deliver essential building materials to support both reconstruction projects and customers in Ukraine.
