Ruukki now offers a total solution for airtight construction

Ruukki launches a new solution, the Ruukki® Airtightness package, that creates energy savings and reduces carbon dioxide emissions. The airtightness package enables owners of industrial and commercial buildings to both reduce their own energy bills and the carbon dioxide emissions arising from their operations. Compared to a conventional solution, Ruukki’s airtightness package could deliver as much as 30% savings in energy bills.

The external envelope of a building – the walls and roof – and particularly airtightness play a significant role in a building’s energy efficiency. How the joints of the wall structures to other structural elements are resolved greatly affects the airtightness of a building. Good airtightness acts as a key factor in low-carbon construction since addressing airtightness does not increase the carbon footprint over a building’s lifecycle but helps significantly reduce CO2 emissions during the building’s use.

The Ruukki® Airtightness package is based on Ruukki® Energy panels and reliable and tested solutions for wall and roof structure joints. In building projects, Ruukki offers not just products but also expertise to optimize energy and lifecycle cost or carbon footprint.

Our development work aims at continuously improving building energy efficiency through the air-tightness of our products. We also aim to be the first to offer fossil-free steel products for roofs and walls in 2026,” concludes Adam Korol, Head of the Building Envelope business unit at Ruukki Construction.

Since back in 2008, Ruukki has been innovating energy-saving products, such as energy panels, to help to improve the airtightness of buildings. The Ruukki® Airtightness package now being launched provides a wider totality, which also supports customers in their sustainability efforts.

The content of the Ruukki® Airtightness package varies from one country to another.
