Itella’s logistics centre exceeded air tightness expectations

External walls built using Ruukki’s energy panel system. Annual energy savings of €25,000 - €40,000.

Energy panel system pays for itself in a few years

• The walls of the logistics centre were built using Ruukki’s energy panel system, which can reduce the annual energy bill by €25,000 - €40,000.
• The building’s air tightness rate (n50) was 0.15, which is considerably better than the 0.9 rate guaranteed. Under the new 2012 regulations, the air tightness rate for the building is 0.7 (q50= m3/h, m²
• The logistics centre is 548 metres long, 122 metres wide and about as high as a 3-storey building.

"Energy saving was the main motive for choosing energy panels . In a building this size, any shift towards energy efficiency generates significant savings,” explains Ville Jokela, Development Director at Itella Real Estate Oy.
