The Warrington Indoor Market lies in the heart of Warrington City Centre and has undergone an exterior refurbishment, including a new modernised façade. Warrington Market showcases two levels of stores and food outlets and was fully refurbished in 2016, when the old premises were bulldozed to make way for the new structure to be implemented.

One area of the building was demolished to make way for the Bridge Street Project, which includes a new cinema, market hall, shops and restaurants on the site.

Working alongside installers AMS Cladding Ltd, and the Main Contractor Construction Partnership UK Ltd, Ruukki assisted with the construction. The new façade features our architecturally innovative and aesthetically pleasing Lamella 30 Cor-Ten Cladding. 440m2 of the Cor-Ten panel was delivered on-site in September 2016, ready to be installed onto the external walls of the busy market.

Our Lamella 30 Cor-Ten panel features solid steel that has a natural, rugged patina that ages continuously in a unique way. It gives the building an original and rustic look. The patina layer is initially reddish brown in colour, becoming darker in tone over the course of time. Cor-Ten has become increasingly popular with architects and designers over the past few years, allowing it to be at the forefront of façade innovation.

Our panels arrived safely on-site, along with our corner panels, support systems and flashings to allow for a complete exterior finish.

The renovation is part of a £107 million retail and leisure-led development plan that will see further additions and revitalisation to the marketing and the surrounding areas. The introduction of the new contemporary market to replace the previous, tired looking market building was just one phase of this exciting master plan.

The new Warrington indoor market has now been fully renovated and the new look encompasses our Ruukki panels. The market is now open for business as usual, with further developments to come in the next year. The final works will be signed off in 2019.
