Our Ruukki LowCarbon product range is designed to help reduce the carbon footprint of buildings while supporting circular economy principles. We are now taking the next step in transparency and environmental responsibility by publishing the first Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for Ruukki LowCarbon sandwich panels.

Ruukki LowCarbon products are made from SSAB Zero™ steel, a material produced using recycled steel, fossil-free electricity, and biofuels. This results in significantly lower carbon emissions compared to traditional steel production.

Now up to 50% lower carbon footprint

The new verified EPDs provide clear, third-party verified data on the environmental impact of our sandwich panels throughout their life-cycle, including their global warming potential (GWP-total). Overall, Ruukki LowCarbon sandwich panels offer up to a 50% reduction in carbon footprint compared to conventional Ruukki’s products that have already been very competitive in their field.

In addition, Ruukki LowCarbon sandwich panels contain a significantly higher percentage of recycled materials. For example, the Ruukki^® Life sandwich panel (SPA E Life 200 mm) has increased its recycled content from 43% to 88%.
