The facade-renovated plant produces both heat and electricity. It is located in Sävenäs, about five kilometres from the centre of Gothenburg. More than 90 per cent of the energy produced at Sävenäs comes from recycled or renewable energy sources.

Göteborg Energi has two other thermal power stations in the Gothenburg Region and produces heat to a total of 90 % of the region's multiple-unit dwelling houses, about 12,000 villas and numerous other buildings.

Göteborg Energi is Sweden’s biggest completely municipally owned energy company.
