Safety levels of Ruukki´s median barrier according to Standard EN 1317-2:

- Class: H1 (high safety level)

Standard EN 1317-2 divides the crash safety of motor traffic into four classes:
- Low safety level T1/T2/T3
- Normal safety level N1/N2
- High safety level H1/H2/H3
- Very high safety level H4a/H4b
The standard sets requirements for tests conducted on each safety level.

Durability
Safety barriers, accessories and fasteners are delivered hot dip galvanised. The thickness of Ruukki’s safety barriers’ zinc layer exceeds the requirements of Standard EN ISO 1461 and fulfils those set in the type drawings of the Finnish Transport Agency. Ruukki’s safety barriers have proven their durability over several decades along traffic lanes treated with de-icing salt.
A hot dip galvanised surface can be painted to make it the desired colour and to extend its service life. Standard PSK 2702 and the SILKO 2.354 repair guideline of the Finnish Transport Agency provide detailed instructions for the painting of hot dip galvanised objects.
Ruukki’s median barrier C33.5/150/180/150/3.5x4 also meets the requirements of the most demanding Class 4 for snow-plough resistance set by the Finnish Transport Agency.
Order & delivery
Ruukki’s median rail delivery may consist of an installation-ready rail system or a more limited set of components. A rail system includes rails and rail posts, as well as starting and end pieces and fasteners.
Rails and posts are manufactured on a continuous roll forming line, which ensures their high dimensional accuracy and allows for long section lengths.
