Design tools
The user experience can be greatly affected by correct planning and the choice of materials.
We emphasise quality in cabin design: first-rate equipment, the efficient and effective use of space, solutions for improving visibility and safety, and optimal control positioning.
We have a modern, modular design with different configuration options, and we can utilise concept designs together with virtual design tools throughout the design and prototyping phases.
Virtual cabin environment
The virtual cabin environment is a realistic 3D space where visibility and interior solutions can be evaluated in order to speed up cabin development projects. This new technology - developed in cooperation between Tampere Technical University and Ruukki - reduces the number of stages required in the design of cabins for mobile machines.
3D visualisation literally puts you in the picture
In the absence of a virtual cabin environment, cabin functions can only be tested once a prototype has been built. With the new technology, cabin options can be projected virtually onto an existing machine or prototype for examination.
The model is produced directly from a CAD image. A virtual cabin, which is the right size and almost identical to the real thing, is superimposed on a virtual model of a mobile machine.
Towards machine operator-centric design
By utilising virtual design tools customers and end-users are able to take part in the design of cabins from the outset. Customers can see if a cabin is taking shape as required, and also if there are any shortcomings. Machine operator-centricity leads to customised products and increases customer satisfaction.
The benefits of virtual cabin design tools for customers are:
- A technical head start in production and design
- Customers and end-users are involved in cabin design from the outset
- Improved visibility, control equipment functionality, ergonomics and safety
- Technical failings, if any, appear already during the testing stage
- Shorter product development times mean products can be launched quickly
Surface treatment
Ruukki's cabins are treated with an integrated coating line with zinc phosphating, e-coating and powder coating.
To ensure quality all over the construction, zinc phosphating and e-coating will be dipped.
In accordance with standard ISO 12944-6, our cabins meet the high performance C5-M corrosion classification.
This process is the most environmentally sound way of surface treating cabins to meet this quality level.
Manufacturing network
Our international cabin manufacturing network - with manufacturing units in the Nordic countries, Central Eastern Europe and China - guarantees reliable cabin supplies globally while your business is growing.
With our global reach, we are able to serve globally operating manufacturers of mobile machines focusing on these market areas.
Cabins for the Nordic market
Ruukki's Kurikka unit in Finland has a long track record of cabin manufacturing competence. Kurikka focuses not only on cabin product development, including R&D and tool design, but also on manufacturing fully-assembled cabins for mobile machines, especially for the Nordic markets.
Cabins for the European and Chinese markets
Cabins made in Holic, Slovakia, are targeted especially for the Central and Eastern European market. Ruukki's unit in Shanghai, China, is increasing cabin manufacture for global manufacturers of mobile machines present in the Chinese market.
