Cabin manufacture internationalizing - Start-up of cabin manufacture in Slovakia
Just like Ruukki’s customers, Ruukki’s cabin business is growing more international. August saw the first cabins being rolled out from the new cabin production facility in Holič, Slovakia.
Ruukki’s earlier deliveries were made from the unit in Kurikka, Finland and the one in China. Kurikka will continue manufacturing fully-assembled cabins for mobile machines, especially for the Nordic market. Kurikka’s role will also strengthen as an R&D centre of excellence.
Ruukki is improving the efficiency of and stepping up cabin production also in Shanghai.
“Demand for cabins is increasing because of the enormous amount of construction work in China. We want to be where our customers are and to grow our cabin business in Asia,” adds sales director Patrik Jakobsson.
Closer to end-users
Changes, such as globalisation, in the business environment are reflected in customer expectations in many ways. “We need to understand the environment in which the end-user works. We need to get beyond the customer surface, to understand customers that, for example, work in a container port,” says Jakobsson.
Ruukki’s uniqueness as a service provider can be seen in the value chain, which starts from the manufacture of the raw material and culminates in the end-product.
“The most important work is done at the design board,” Jakobsson notes. “We have the capability to assume responsibility for products during their entire lifespan. Cabins are a spearhead product that strengthen Ruukki’s entire product and service portfolio,” Jakobsson sums up.
