Increased consumption of raw materials and energy brought about by long-term population growth and higher standards of living will create a strong demand for green technology, which conserves energy and natural resources.

This trend will create opportunities for our business. Increased interest in green technology is currently visible in Ruukki’s business, especially in construction and in the lifting, handling and transportation equipment industry and wind power industry.

We continue to be among the leaders in production efficiency

We intend to continue to be one of the most carbon-dioxide-efficient steel producers. Our carbon dioxide efficiency is based on the development work we have done in production and our choice of raw materials which have enable us to achieve very low coal consumption in iron-making.

We aim to further cut carbon dioxide emissions in the long term. One of the things we are studying is carbon dioxide capture technology in steel-making.

We strive to take into account improved energy efficiency in all our operations.

Our target on the safety front is a zero-accident workplace

Ensuring safety is an inherent part of everyday life and management across our company. Safety is improving through long-term, systematic work, which also continuously takes into account changes in the operating environment.

We continue developing new ways to extensively engage the personnel in improving safety.
