Summer jobs and thesis opportunities 

Get your first impression of us and broaden your knowledge about our business through training periods. We offer hundreds of opportunities during the summer for students from different educational backgrounds. Summer jobs are mainly in our Finnish production sites. The application period for summer trainee positions is open from January to March depending on the job.

A summer job is the most probable way to a thesis opportunity. Every year, we have tens of students writing their thesis for us. Our research and development organisation in strongly involved with most of the thesis work, but research subjects in fields other than technical fields can also be found.

Ruukki Industrial Institute

Ruukki Industrial Institute trains professionals for diverse jobs in Finland. Graduates from a vocational school or upper secondary school who are interested in the steel industry are welcome to apply for this successful programme.

Studies take 18 months and include on-the-job learning, theoretical studies as well as e-learning. The programme language is Finnish. After graduation, Ruukki provides job for new graduates in different units in Finland.

Young Professionals and SitePro programmes

Trainee programmes are one way to join Ruukki. Ruukki's trainee programmes have become a tradition and have proved extremely popular with young people.

Young Professionals is Ruukki's trainee programme for graduates with a university degree in technology or commerce. We have successfully conducted four Young Professionals programmes. Our trainees have been at the beginning of their careers, mainly with a few years of work experience. Latest trainees started in 2011, and nowadays these 24 young Ruukki-people are working in business, the order-to-cash process, sales, marketing, HR management and in jobs relating to IT development.

SitePro is a programme for engineers in the construction field who have recently graduated from a university of applied sciences. The programme focuses on studying the special features of steel construction through on-the-job training and periods of classroom teaching. Initially, the young participants work in assistant project management tasks at Ruukki's customers' steel construction sites in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Steel construction requires skills that can only be learned through practical training. The latest SitePro programme started in spring 2011.

Young Professionals group enters working life More than twenty recent graduates with a master's degree in economics, business administration or technology or a bachelors degree in business administration started their working careers on Ruukki’s Young Professionals programme, which began in May 2011.  Read the entire article.
