Ruukki's operations are structured into three business areas. What are these?
- Ruukki Construction provides efficient, time-saving steel structure solutions for commercial, office & industrial construction, single-family homes, port and transport infrastructure construction and for wind turbines. Ruukki Engineering provides fully-assembled systems and components for the engineering industry (core product areas are cabins and various special-steel and other components). Ruukki Metals is a manufacturer of special steel products, which include high-strength, wear-resistant and special-coated products.
What are Ruukki’s main market areas?
- We have operations in nearly 30 countries and a strong position in the Nordic countries and Eastern Europe. Our focus of growth is on emerging markets.
Where is Ruukki’s biggest steel production plant located and what is it's capacity?
- The biggest plant is in Raahe, Finland, which is the focus of the group’s manufacture of steel and hot-rolled products. In 2011, the Raahe plant produced around 2.2 million tonnes of steel.
What are Ruukki’s main raw materials?
- The main raw materials used in steel production are iron concentrate and pellets, recycled steel and coal, which is used a reducing agent.
